Earlier this year Samsung released its 870 QVO SATA SSD. This SSD is composed of its second- generation quad-level cell (QLC) flash technology. We have already reviewed the 1TB and 4TB models of the drive. One of the big benefits of QLC is that it is less expensive than TLC and you can get higher capacities to replace legacy HDD. NETGEAR Releases Four New Gigabit Unmanaged PoE Switches

Today NETGEAR Inc. announced the release of four new Gigabit unmanaged PoE switches. These new switches include the GS516PP, GS524PP, GS516UP and GS524UP two 16-port and two 24-port models that can be rackmounted or desktop mounted. HP Z Fall Announcements

Today, HP announced its new and updated line of Z products, ranging from the tiny Z2 Mini G5 to the ZCentral 4R, a very powerful 1U system designed to be a turn-key remote workstation solution. There’s a lot of products to get through, but the overarching theme is a real focus on remote setups and being able to work from home with emphasis on HP’s own ZCentral Remote Boost. There’s also a good emphasis on creating one of the industry’s most sustainable portfolios, with a lot of attention paid to packaging, material use, and utilizing ocean-bound plastic (that is, plastic that would have otherwise ended up in waterways). Brocade X7 Directors & G720 Switch Released

Today Broadcom Inc. announced the release of the Brocade X7 Directors and G720 Switch, what they are calling the industry’s first Gen 7 64Gb/s Fibre Channel switching platforms. These platforms are said to be foundational infrastructure for the on-demand data center that can enable an autonomous SAN. The company also announced the first 64Gb/s Fibre Channel optical transceiver, that is being qualified for use in Brocade switches and Emulex adapters, for end-to-end Gen 7 performance. (more…)

Seagate IronWolf NAS Drive Line Gets An Upgrade

Today, Seagate updated its IronWolf line of Network Attached Storage (NAS) drives. The changes include adding two new SATA SSD (Solid-State Drives) and a new, larger 18TB HDD (Hard Disk Drive). It’s impressive to see them adding another 2TB to their largest drives just a year after they released their 16TB models. It’s even more impressive since they just added M.2 form-factor SSDs a few months ago. (more…)
